In addition to Scane, the IWLCA honored three other outstanding athletes as positional Players of the Year in Division I: Chase Boyle, a junior midfielder from Loyola University Maryland; Sydney Scales, a senior defender from Boston College; and Erin O'Grady, a junior goalkeeper from the University of Michigan.
Izzy Scane's final collegiate season was nothing short of historic. She closed out her career as a National Championship Finalist, leaving an indelible mark on NCAA lacrosse. Scane broke the all-time NCAA career goal-scoring record, surpassing the previous record held by Charlotte North with 358 goals. Scane finished her career with an astounding 376 goals and 483 points over 84 games, making her the all-time leader in goals and the second-highest in points in NCAA Division I history.
This season, Scane continued to dominate, netting 88 goals and leading the nation in goals for the second consecutive year. This feat follows her remarkable 99-goal season in 2023. Scane's back-to-back national goal-scoring titles make her the first player to achieve this since Jen Adams of Maryland from 1999 to 2001.
Throughout the season, Scane has been a consistent force on the field. She was named IWLCA Player of the Week three times, most notably after scoring five goals and providing one assist in Northwestern's second-round victory over Denver. Her performance has been instrumental in the Wildcats' success, including their National Title win in 2023.
Scane's legacy is further cemented by her being a three-time First Team All-American selection. Her leadership and skills have not only brought individual accolades but also propelled Northwestern to the pinnacle of collegiate lacrosse.
Izzy Scane's recognition as the IWLCA Division I Player of the Year and Attacker of the Year for the second consecutive season highlights her extraordinary impact on the sport. Her record-breaking achievements and consistent excellence make her one of the most remarkable players in NCAA history.
