Dyke Fans Seven in Series Opening Setback at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State's four runs in the seventh inning pushed the Buckeyes past the Wildcats on Friday night at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium.
After loading the bases with nobody out, Ohio State (25-22, 9-10 Big Ten) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, but Wildcat righthander Jack Dyke responded to limit the damage to one.
Buckeye starting pitcher Landon Beidelschies kept the 'Cats (15-31, 2-16 Big Ten) off the scoreboard until the top of the sixth, when Trent Liolios plated Bennett Markinson to tie the game at one apiece.
Ohio State took the lead with four runs on five hits in the bottom of the seventh.
Northwestern cut into the deficit in the top of the eighth on an RBI single by Griffin Arnone, trimming the OSU lead to 5-2.
Trey Lipsey's two-run double in the bottom of the eighth added onto the Buckeye lead, making it a 7-2 game.
Dyke (1-2) is credited with the loss, surrendering three runs on four hits in 6.1 innings pitched. The graduate student from San Francisco fanned a career-high seven batters on the night.
Beidelschies (5-7) earned the win for OSU, limiting the 'Cats to one run on seven hits, striking out five and walking one in 7.0 innings of work..@JDyke19 fans two more in a 1-2-3 sixth! ?? pic.twitter.com/lTnbq48GuX

Game two of the series is set for Saturday at 12 p.m. CT on B1G+ in Columbus. Kyle Potthoff is set to start on the mound for the Wildcats, with Colin Purcell slated to start for OSU.
