COLUMBUS, Ohio – Northwestern couldn't keep up with Ohio State in a 14-6 loss at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Ohio State (25-22, 10-10 Big Ten) broke open the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the first and extended its lead with three in the second, one in the third, and three in the fourth to take an 11-0 lead.
Vince Bianchina's three-run home run in the top of the fifth put Northwestern (15-32, 2-17 Big Ten) on the board, his second long ball of the 2024 campaign.

The Buckeyes responded with three runs on three hits and one error in the bottom of the sixth to re-extend their lead to 14-5.
NU plated one run in the ninth on an error by the Buckeye second baseman
Kyle Potthoff (3-5) is handed the loss after allowing seven runs on eight hits in 1.2 innings pitched.
Colin Purcell (3-4) earns the win, surrendering five runs on five hits, walking one and fanning one in 6.0 innings of action.
Sunday's series finale is slated for 12 p.m. CT in Columbus on B1G+.
