Three Wildcats Named to Team USA FIH Hockey Pro League Traveling Roster

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern field hockey players Lauren Wadas, Maddie Zimmer and Ashley Sessa have all been named to the traveling roster to represent the United State in the FIH Hockey Pro League.
The matches will begin in late May and continue into June, taking place in Antwerp, Belgium and London, England. The squad will depart for Belgium on May 15. This is the final selection opportunity before the U.S. Women's Olympic Field Hockey Team roster to represent at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be named publicly in mid-June. The team will consist of 16 athletes, plus three provisional (traveling reserve) athletes.
Wadas enters the league as the 2023 NFHCA West Region Player of the Year, having also been named a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection and an NFHCA First Team All-American. One of four team captains for the Wildcats this past season in which they swept both the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles, Wadas logged career highs in goals (8), assists (6) and points (22).
Zimmer is a two-time All-American, former Big Ten Freshman of the Year and 2021 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. The Hershey, Pennsylvania native spent the 2023 season training with the U.S. Women's National Team on an Olympic redshirt and will rejoin the 'Cats for the upcoming season.
Sessa joins the Wildcats' roster for the upcoming 2024 season after transferring from the University of North Carolina. Sessa played in the FIH Pro League in 2022 and 2003. She earned her first cap with the U.S. Women's National Team in November of 2021 and started 21 games for North Carolina throughout the 2022 season. Like Zimmer, Sessa took an Olympic redshirt to train with the U.S. Women's National Team this past 2023 season.
