Izzy Scane - IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week (April 2)

  • Over the two-win week, Scane registered a total of 11 goals and added two assists for a total of 13 points. In a dominant 16-10 victory over No. 13 UNC, she tied her season high by scoring seven goals, showcasing her scoring prowess against a nationally-ranked opponent. This is Scane's second IWLCA Player of the Week accolade this season. The Wildcats' 2-0 week led them back to the top as they reclaimed the No. 1 ranking in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll.

Samantha Smith - Big Ten Midfielder of the Week (March 26)

  • Smith paired 22 draw controls and three assists, as No. 3 Northwestern split a pair of contests.
  • She paired eight draw controls and two assists in the Wildcats' 14-13 overtime loss at No. 19 Penn State, and secured a career-high 14 draw controls to go with an assist in Northwestern's 16-10 win at No. 13 North Carolina.
  • This was the first time in her career receiving this honor.

Madison Smith - Big Ten Freshman of the Week (March 19)

  • Smith secured four draw controls in No. 1 Northwestern's 14-9 win over No. 10 Johns Hopkins.
  • This was the second consecutive week where Smith earned this award, also marking her second time being awarded the title.

Madison Smith - Big Ten Freshman of the Week (March 12)

  • Smith recorded her first career assist in a 25-8 win over UAlbany on Sunday and tallied three draw controls at UAlbany.

  • In a highly anticipated rematch against No. 1 ranked Boston College, Scane delivered a stellar performance by netting an impressive five goals. Her contributions were instrumental in securing the 14-11 victory over the Eagles, accounting for over one-third of the team's total goals. Scane continued her scoring streak in the following game against Central Michigan, where she added four more goals to her tally. This outstanding display also represented a historic milestone for Scane as she surpassed the all-time points record, cementing her status as the leading points scorer in Northwestern history with an impressive career total of 401 points. With Northwestern's success this past week, the Wildcats have reclaimed its No. 1 ranking in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll.

Izzy Scane - Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week  (February 27)

  • Scane's performance during the matchup against Colorado showcased tallied 5 goals and 2 assists on the day. This latest milestone further solidifies Scane's illustrious career trajectory, highlighted by an impressive tally of 301 career goals and 91 assists. Her recent achievement places her among the elite in NCAA Division 1 women's lacrosse, as she becomes one of just three players to surpass the prestigious 300-goal mark. In joining the esteemed "300 Club," Scane stands alongside exceptional talents such as Charlotte North, boasting 358 career goals, and Courtney Murphy, who has amassed 341 career goals.
  • This was Scane's 9th time receiving this award in her career.

Izzy Scane named semi-finalist for the AAU James E. Sullivan Award (February 14)

Izzy Scane, a standout lacrosse player at Northwestern University, has etched her name in collegiate sports history with her remarkable achievements and contributions to the sport. In 2023, Scane clinched the highly coveted Tewaaraton Award, solidifying her status as one of the most outstanding athletes in the sport's history. She was also a Tewaaraton Award Finalist in 2021, further highlighting her consistent excellence on the lacrosse field. Scane's skill was further recognized with the Honda Sport Award in 2023, the IWCLA Player of the Year award in the same year, and multiple selections to the IWCLA First Team All-American roster in 2021 and 2023.

Throughout her illustrious career, Scane showcased her remarkable goal-scoring ability, culminating in a single-game career high of 10 goals against Notre Dame in February 2023, cementing her as one of the most prolific scorers in Northwestern's history. With an impressive tally of 288 career goals, Scane's impact on the field is undeniable, setting both the program's single-season and career scoring records. Her dominance extended beyond scoring, as she also excelled in other facets of the game, including recording four assists in a single game on three occasions.

In addition to her on-field accomplishments, Scane's leadership and contributions were instrumental in Northwestern's success. She played a pivotal role in leading her team to victory as the NCAA Tournament MVP in 2023, showcasing her ability to perform at the highest level in crucial moments. Scane's dominance within the Big Ten conference earned her accolades such as the Big Ten Attacker of the Year and First Team All-Big Ten honors in multiple seasons, further highlighting her impact on the collegiate lacrosse landscape.

Off the field, Scane maintained a stellar academic record, earning recognition as an Academic All-Big Ten honoree in both 2022 and 2023, reflecting her commitment to excellence in academics as well as athletics. Additionally, her nomination as a finalist for the 2023 ESPY Award for Best Female College Athlete underscores her widespread recognition and acclaim as one of the top athletes in collegiate sports, reflecting her dedication and impact both on and off the field.

As she concludes her collegiate career, Izzy Scane leaves behind a legacy of excellence and achievement that will be remembered as defining moments in the history of collegiate lacrosse. Her remarkable accomplishments, both individually and as part of a team, have solidified her as one of the greatest lacrosse players of her generation, and her impact on the sport will continue to resonate for years to come.

 

Erin Coykendall - Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week (February 13)

  • In Northwestern's home opener against No. 5 Syracuse, Coykendall contributed an outstanding four goals and four assists. After a first quarter hat trick, the Spencerport, N.Y. native went on to lead both the team and the conference with a total of eight points. 
  • This was her third time receiving the award in her career.

Izzy Scane - USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Player of the Year and Attacker of the Year (January 17)

  • In the 2023 season, Scane's exceptional performance saw her lead the nation in scoring with an outstanding 99 goals, setting a program record for single-season scores. The culmination of her efforts came in the national title game, where she contributed four goals to an 18-6 victory over Boston College, simultaneously setting records for single-season goals and becoming Northwestern University's all-time leading goalscorer with 288 scores.
  • Scane's impact transcended individual accolades, with a 4.95 goals per game average that left opposing defenses struggling to contain her. This extraordinary season earned her unanimous recognition as the Big Ten Attacker of the Year and first-team All-Big Ten honors. She played an instrumental role in guiding her team to a sweep of the conference's regular season and tournament championships.
