‘Cats Selected To NCAA East Lansing Regional

Northwestern set for 14th consecutive regional appearance
EVANSTON, Ill. (April 24, 2024) – Currently ranked eighth nationally, the Northwestern University women's golf team will compete at the NCAA East Lansing Regional, it was announced on Wednesday. The Wildcats will be the No. 2 seed at Michigan State University's Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich.
Head coach Emily Fletcher and assistant coach Beth Miller are set to pilot Northwestern to a 14th straight NCAA Regional, a streak that dates back to the duo's second year in charge in the 2009-10 season. The 'Cats have advanced past the regional stage eight times during Fletcher and Miller's tenure, most recently placing third at last season's Palm Beach Gardens Regional to secure their spot at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships.
Northwestern has enjoyed a terrific 2023-24 season, placing in the top three in eight of its 10 events. The Wildcats closed the regular season with back-to-back victories at the PING/ASU Invitational and Silverado Shootout, respectively, ahead of a third-place finish at the Big Ten Championships.
On the individual front, Lauryn Nguyen, who enters regional play with a team-best 71.27 stroke average, has five top-10 finishes to her name this season, highlighted by a victory at the Windy City Collegiate Classic this past October where she carded an 11-under-par 205 (66-70-69). Jennifer Cai picked up her first collegiate win at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in February, draining a long putt on the 18th hole in the final round to close out a five-under-par 208 (71-68-69) and secure her spot atop the leaderboard.
The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional site will advance to play at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships, May 17-22, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
