Wildcat Trio Earns Tewaaraton Award Nominations

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern University proudly announces the nomination of Izzy Scane, Erin Coykendall, and Madison Taylor for the prestigious Tewaaraton Award, recognizing the pinnacle of collegiate lacrosse achievement. These exceptional athletes have demonstrated extraordinary skill and dedication, earning their place among the top performers in the sport.
The Tewaaraton Award is renowned as the premier honor in college lacrosse, celebrating the most outstanding male and female players in the United States. Each year, the selection committees, composed of esteemed college coaches, carefully choose the nominees based on exceptional performance and contributions to the game.
Andy Phillips, President of the Tewaaraton Foundation, expressed admiration for this year's nominees, stating, "The Tewaaraton Nominees are a truly exceptional group of student-athletes. Their outstanding play has created so many memorable moments and exciting games in 2024, and we fully expect to see more of the same as we head toward the postseason."
Five men's and five women's finalists will emerge from this distinguished group, with the announcement scheduled for May 9 at the conclusion of the regular season. Among the nominees, Izzy Scane, the 2023 Tewaaraton Award winner, returns alongside Erin Coykendall, highlighting their continued excellence on the field.
This year's women's Tewaaraton Award Nominees represent 15 different schools, with Northwestern, Boston College, and Michigan leading the pack with three players each. Notably, Madison Taylor earns her first nomination for the award as a sophomore standout.
Catch the 2024 Tewaaraton nominees in action one last time during the regular reason this Sunday, April 21st as they take on the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor. Opening draw is set for 11:00 a.m. CT and the game will be streamed on Big Ten Network.
