'Cats Rally Past Islanders for Rain-Shortened Win

The Islanders took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run double, but Drew Dickson stranded the bases loaded and hold the deficit at two.
A three-run shot in the top of the fifth by Griffin Arnone, his second of the season, put Northwestern back up 4-3. The Islanders plated three in the bottom of the fifth to retake a 6-4 lead.
In the top of the sixth, Bennett Markinson's sacrifice fly to score Freeman, cutting the deficit in half. Northwestern tied the game when Zach Selfon reached on an error, scoring Preston Knott to knot things up at six apiece. In the top of the seventh, Arnone hit his second home run of the game to put NU back in front, 7-6.
With Northwestern leading 8-6 in the middle of the eighth inning, the umpires halted the game due to inclement weather, reverting the final score to the last completed inning, giving the Wildcats a 7-6 win.
Jack Dyke (1-0) earned the win for the Wildcats, tossing two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out three.
Northwestern returns to action for a three-game set at McNeese this weekend on ESPN+. First pitch on Friday night is set for 6 p.m. CT.
