‘Cats Rack Up Personal Bests At David Hemery Valentine Invitational

Earl narrowly misses out on breaking 3,000m run school record
BOSTON, Mass. (February 9, 2024) – Multiple Wildcats notched new personal bests as Northwestern cross country saw action at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational today in Boston, Mass.
Leading the Northwestern attack was Ava Earl in the 3,000m run. Earl came within two seconds of shattering the program record in the event, crossing in a personal-best 9:04.68 to place 19th overall.
Anna Hightower joined Earl in clocking a new personal best in the event, checking in at 9:31.02, while Pippa Nuttall came close to a new top time in the event of her own, finishing at 9:47.61. Rachel Sessa (9:57.15) and Katherine Hessler (9:58.25) also represented the 'Cats in the seeded portion of the event.
Kalea Bartolotto was the first Wildcat across in the 5,000m run, surging through in 16:32.70 to place 57th. Fiona Lenth checked in at a personal-best 16:53.32, while Ava Criniti made her collegiate debut in the event, clocking in at 16:54.84.
Maddy Whitman got the day off to a flying start for Northwestern in the unseeded portion of the 5,000m run, taking seventh overall with a personal-best 16:56.99. Adele Magaud (6th; 9:50.09) and Jackie Holman (10th; 9:51.90) both added 3,000m run personal bests in the unseeded races to secure top-10 finishes.
Northwestern wraps up the indoor portion of its schedule close to home when it competes at the University of Chicago's Margaret Bradley Invitational on Saturday, February 17 in Chicago, Ill.
