Men's Tennis Falls 4-3 to No. 21 Alabama

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Wildcats fell just short of knocking off No. 21 Alabama on Friday, losing 3-4 in a close match at home.
Doubles duo Greyson Casey and Presley Thieneman were able to grab a 6-2 victory in their matches, but Alabama took victories in the other two doubles matches to secure the doubles point.
Presley Thieneman and Saiprakash Goli both picked up wins against ranked players (No. 74 Enzo Aguiard and No. 115 Matias Ponce De Leon, respectively). Both took their opponents to third sets after losing in the first and were able to come back for two singles points. Goli's third set consisted of a super tiebreak to 10 points, which he won 10-8. Nick Herdoiza also won after a close battle in the third set, 6-4.
Gleb Blekher went down to the wire with No. 53 Filip Planinsek, but after an extended tiebreak in the second set, he was defeated by a narrow margin of 7-9.
The men's team will finish their homestand on Sunday at Combe Tennis Center versus Clemson at noon and versus IUPUI at 6 p.m.
