COLUMBUS, Ohio (February 27, 2024) – No. 8 Northwestern fencing won its first outright Central Collegiate Fencing Conference (CCFC) team title in program history, while 11 Wildcats secured podium finishes this past weekend at the CCFC Championships in Columbus, Ohio.

Northwestern finished with a perfect 6-0 in Saturday's team competition en route to claiming the CCFC crown inside French Field House.  Following back-to-back 27-0 shutouts of Detroit Mercy and Cleveland State to open competition, the 'Cats rolled to wins over Lawrence, 24-3, and Wayne State, 23-4, to set up a showdown with two-time defending CCFC champion No. 13 Ohio State.

In its matchup with the host Buckeyes, Northwestern received victories in the sabre, 7-2, and epee, 6-3, on the way a thrilling 16-11 triumph.  A 24-3 win over Denison in the day's final round put the exclamation point on an unblemished afternoon that saw the Wildcats reach the summit and take home the league title.

After closing the day with 6-0 marks across Northwestern's matchups, the epee and sabre squads laid claim to the titles in both weapons, while the Wildcat foilists earned a runner-up finish.

Sunday's individual competition was highlighted by victorious efforts from Karen Wang and Adele Bois.  Seeded second entering the tableau in the epee, Wang, a native of Houston, Texas, picked up three consecutive victories, ultimately downing Ohio State's Yeva Mazur in the final by a 15-10 scoreline to finish atop the podium.  Making her postseason debut, Bois enjoyed a breakout showing in the sabre.  Also seeded second, the New York City, N.Y. product rattled off three straight wins of her own in the tableau, securing the conference title with a 15-9 win in the final.

Bois' victory in the sabre headlined a dominant showing by the 'Cats in the event that saw Sky Miller (2nd), Levi Hoogendoorn (T-3rd), Megumi Oishi (6th), and Sumin Liu (7th) also make the podium.  Wang was joined in the top three in the epee by Emma Ning (T-3rd), while the quartet of Rowan Park (T-3rd), Yejine Lee (T-3rd), Allison Lee (5th), and Samantha Serban (6th) finished on the podium in the foil.
