MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Northwestern women's basketball hit 8-of-18 attempts from beyond the arc, shooting 44.4 percent from deep, but fell 88-63 to the Minnesota Golden Gophers on the road Saturday.
The Wildcats (8-17, 3-11) had three players score in double figures, led by Melannie Daley, who had 16 points and three steals. Caileigh Walsh tacked on 16 points and Maggie Pina helped out with 11 points.
The Northwestern offense was dialed in from deep, knocking down eight threes on 18 attempts. Pina hit three treys for the Wildcats in the contest - her tenth game of the season with multiple three-point makes.
How It Happened

Minnesota kept adding to that lead in the second, building a 31-22 advantage before Northwestern went on a 6-0 run, highlighted by a three from Pina, to narrow its deficit once again, this time to 31-28. Minnesota again had the answer, though, leaving the Wildcats trailing 42-33 heading into halftime.
Northwestern's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Wildcats faced a 67-43 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter.
Northwestern could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 88-63.
