EVANSTON, Ill. - After an undefeated weekend in both singles and doubles play, senior Presley Thieneman was named the Big Ten Player of the Week for men's tennis on Wednesday afternoon. It is the first Player of the Week selection of Thieneman's career.

In singles play, Thieneman beat ranked opponents in two of three matches. He opened the weekend with a 1-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-4 victory over No. 74 Enzo Aguiard in the 'Cats' close 3-4 loss to No. 21 Alabama. To follow it up, Thieneman dispensed of Clemson's No. 111 Noa Vukadin in straight sets on Sunday morning, 6-1, 6-1, to help Northwestern to a 6-1 team win. He then wrapped up his perfect weekend with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 victory over IUPUI's Kamil Kozerski at the number one position on Sunday evening.

Thieneman also impressed in doubles play alongside partner Greyson Casey. The duo claimed a 6-2 victory over Alabama's No. 45 Planinsek/Zimnokh on Friday, then went 2-0 on Sunday with a 7-5 win against Clemson and a 6-2 victory over IUPUI. The pair is now 5-2 this season with one match going unfinished.

Thieneman is the first Wildcat to be awarded Men's Tennis Big Ten Player of the Week since last April 26, when Steven Forman earned the honor.
