Yun Wins Individual Title, ‘Cats Earn Top Seed For Match Play At St Andrews Links Collegiate

Northwestern to battle Arizona on Wednesday for team title
ST ANDREWS, Scotland (October 15, 2024) – Ashley Yun secured her first collegiate victory as the Northwestern University women's golf team finished atop the team leaderboard following two rounds of stroke play at the St Andrews Links Collegiate in St Andrews, Scotland.
By virtue of finishing first amongst the four-team field, Northwestern, which closed play at the Jubilee Course (par 72; 6,218 yards) with a team score of 724 (359-365), will be the top seed in Wednesday's match play event.
Yun was outstanding the past two days en route to winning the individual title with a five-under-par 139 (69-70). The West Covina, Calif. native raced out of the gate in Monday's opening round, handing in a three-under-par 69 to take the outright lead before handing in a two-under 70 in Tuesday's final round of stroke play. Yun paced Northwestern through the opening two days of play with a team-best seven birdies and a tournament-low two bogeys.
Dianna Lee used a second-round one-under 71 to climb into a tie for third place with an even-par 144 (73-71), while Elise Lee (72-72=144) fired back-to-back rounds of 72 to finish alongside her junior counterpart. Lauryn Nguyen rounded out a quartet of Wildcats to place inside the top 10, taking seventh with a 147 (72-75).
Coming off a top-five finish in her last action at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, Hsin Tai Lin carded a first-round one-over 73 as part of a 150 (73-77) that saw her place 13th. Jiayi Wang tallied a 154 (75-79) to finish in 17th place.
