
Wildcats Drop Three-Set Sweep to No. 9 Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. -- The Northwestern volleyball team battled hard, but could not overcome a powerful Badgers offense Sunday on the road. The 'Cats fell to No. 9 Wisconsin in three sets (13-25, 23-25, 20-25).
The loss dropped Northwestern's record to 3-11 overall and 1-5 in Big Ten play.
The Wildcats offense was paced by Lily Wagner, who finished with 10 kills on the day, and by Alexa Rousseau, who had 10 while hitting .333.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Wildcats fell behind early, dropping a tough first set 25-13. Northwestern trailed by as many as 13 points as Wisconsin grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 in a set that was notted up two times before the Badgers took control.
SET 2 | Northwestern came close to victory in the second set before falling 25-23. The Wildcats battled in a back-and-forth set, eventually losing in a stanza that featured five lead changes and was tied 12 times. Neither team led by more than three points along the way.
SET 3 | The Wildcats dropped the third set 25-20 in spite of a strong performance on the attacking end. Northwestern put together a .357 attack percentage with 13 kills in the set loss.
Game Notes
» Sophia Summers had a match-high three aces in the loss. Prior to today's game, the graduate student had logged just one in her career.
» Lily Wagner had a team-high 10 kills for Northwestern - the first double-digit kill game of her career. She also paced the team in digs, with eight.
» Northwestern attackers were helped by a team-high 19 assists from Alexa Rousseau, who now stands just five career assists shy of moving into fifth place in program history.

Northwestern returns to action on Wednesday, when they're set to host the Iowa Hawkeyes at Welsh-Ryan Arena. That match, which will be televised on Big Ten Network, is scheduled for an 8 p.m. first serve in Evanston.
