Northwestern Leads 2024 Big Ten Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern, after claiming the No. 1 spot in the ILWomen/IWLCA preseason poll, has been ranked first in the Big Ten Conference preseason coaches' poll.
The Wildcats concluded the 2023 season as National Champions with an impressive 21-1 record, including a flawless 6-0 mark in league action, securing the program's eighth National Championship.Three standout players to watch for the Wildcats are Erin Coykendall, Izzy Scane, and Sammy White.
Erin Coykendall, recognized as a Tewaaraton Award Finalist in 2023, earned IWCLA First Team All-American, First Team All-Big Ten. Coykendall led the team with 50 assists and was third on the team with 58 goals. Her standout performances included a career-high six goals against Stanford and five points in the NCAA Championship win over Boston College.
Izzy Scane, the Tewaaraton Award Winner in 2023, led the nation with 99 goals and set both the program's single-season and career scoring records. She also earned the Tewaaraton Award in 2023. Additionally, Scane secured the Honda Sport Award in 2023, IWCLA Player of the Year, and numerous other accolades.
Samantha White's notable achievements in 2023 include IWCLA Second Team All-American, IWLCA All-Region Second Team, and All-Big Ten First-Team honors. She played a crucial role in Northwestern's success, starting all 22 games, leading the team with 42 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers, and ranking second with 68 draws.
