Pate to be Recognized at 2024 Allstate Sugar Bowl

Full Good Works Team Opens in a new window
Northwestern defensive lineman Jaylen Pate will be recognized at the 2024 Allstate Sugar Bowl on Monday, January 1 after being named to the 2023 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team is comprised of 22 college football student-athletes (11 FBS players) and one honorary head coach who make outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement.  These individuals embody the true spirit of teamwork and giving back through commendable acts of kindness.

During his time with the Wildcats, Pate has volunteered all throughout the Chicagoland community, participating in 75% of all community service programs offered at Northwestern. Much of his volunteering revolves around spending time with kids. The graduate student-athlete regularly delivers summer books to local students and serves as role model for inner city youth during an after-school program.

Pate also regularly volunteers at his godmother's soup kitchen, OSP Diner, an officially recognized Chicago Food Depository soup kitchen. In 2023, Jaylen was the winner of the Cats Give Back Community Outreach Award, which recognizes one male and one female student-athlete who've made an impact within the Evanston and Chicagoland communities.

Pate is the second Wildcat in as many years to be named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, as quarterback Ryan Hilinski was named to the 2022 team last season.
