EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern field hockey received a pair of Big Ten Player of the Week honors this Monday as Maja Zivojnovic was named Defensive Player of the Week and Olivia Bent-Cole was named Freshman of the Week.
Zivojnovic, a sophomore, takes home her first Player of the Week award after recording both a hat trick and a defensive save in Sunday's 4-0 victory over Princeton. The back has started all ten of Northwestern's games this season and is second on the roster in both goals (7) and points (21). She collects the team's third Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award of the season, adding to goalkeeper Annabel Skubisz' back-to-back honors on September 5 and 11.
Bent-Cole receives her first honors as well after playing a key role in Friday's win in Columbus. The first year scored both of the 'Cats' final goals in the 4-3 victory, good for the first multi-goal performance of her collegiate career. At 0.50 goals per game, Bent-Cole is third in the Big Ten among first years and 12th overall in the conference. Her five goals on the season are third on the team and she leads the Wildcats in shots on goal. Bent-Cole is the first Wildcat to be named Freshman of the Week since Lauren Wadas on March 29, 2021.
