How It Happened
SET 1 | Northwestern looked to harness the energy of its home fans early on, taking a 3-2 lead on a Leilani Dodson slide kill. The 'Cats pulled back even at 7-7 following a 3-0 spurt that included two kills from Julia Sangiacomo. With the Northwestern trailing by an 11-10 margin following a block from Kennedy Hill and Kathryn Randorf, Wisconsin seized control with a 7-0 run, opening up an 18-10 lead that prompted a pair of Wildcat timeouts. The Badgers went on to close out a 25-18 victory in the first set.
SET 2 | The Wildcats again seeked a fast start in set two, taking a 2-0 lead on an Alexa Rousseau kill. Following a Maddy Chinn spike that pushed the lead to 3-1, Wisconsin responded with nine straight points, opening up a 10-3 advantage. After seeing the deficit grow to as many as 16, Northwestern chipped away late, pulling within 23-11 on a tandem block by Ellie Husemann and Lauren Carter, but the hole proved too big as the Badgers claimed a 25-12 win.
SET 3 | Sangiacomo hammered off the block early in set three to trim Wisconsin's lead to 5-4. Northwestern would get no closer the rest of the way, as the visitors used a 4-0 surge to open up an 11-5 advantage on their way to a 25-13 triumph to seal the match.
