Achara Jr, Gajadhar, and Weiss Named Big Ten Men’s Soccer Players to Watch

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Northwestern men's soccer forwards Ugo Achara Jr. and Justin Weiss, along with midfielder Jason Gajadhar have been selected to the 2023 Big Ten Men's Soccer Players to Watch List, the conference announced on Monday. A 2020 First Team All-Big Ten honoree, Ugo Achara Jr. returns to Northwestern following two seasons at Louisville. In his first-year and sophomore seasons in Evanston, Achara Jr. tallied seven goals, including two game-winners, and one assist.
 
Fresh off a Big Ten All-Freshman Team and Big Ten All-Tournament Team recognition, Jason Gajadhar returns for his sophomore season. In his rookie campaign, Gajadhar made 11 starts, notching three goals and an assist.
 
Justin Weiss earns Big Ten Player to Watch status after recording three goals and an assist in injury-limited action in 2022. In 2021, Weiss, scored eight goals and added two assists en route to First Team All-Big Ten honors.
 
In the 2023 Big Ten Preseason Poll, the Wildcats were selected to finish eighth. 2022 Big Ten Champion Maryland was picked to finish first, while 2022 National Runner-Up Indiana was tabbed to finish second.
 
Northwestern opens the 2023 season at home against St. Thomas at 4 p.m. CT at Martin Stadium.
