Field Hockey Adds Seven to 2023 Roster

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern added seven players, six first-years and one transfer, this offseason, the team announced on Thursday.Β 

US Women's National Team Forward, 2022 MAX Field Hockey National Player of the Year and First-Team All-American Olivia Bent-Cole will join the Wildcats out of Camden Catholic High School. Bent-Cole, a forward and midfielder, contributed 38 goals and 16 assists her senior season en route to a state championship – the school's first since 1985. The Philadelphia native has represented the United States at multiple levels throughout her career including stints with the Junior Women's National Indoor Team, the U-16 Women's National Team, U-21 Women's National Team, and Senior Squad. Β Bent-Cole helped the United States U-21s to a Gold Medal at the Junior Pan American Championship last April in Barbados and made her debut with the US Senior Women's National Team in March 2022.

A versatile forward and midfielder from Baltimore, Piper Borz joins Northwestern after a stand-out high school career at McDonogh School. Borz competed all three years on the varsity squad, captaining the team as a senior. She recorded 32 goals and 16 assists over her final two seasons, leading the team in both categories in both years. Following the 2022 season, she was named to All-Region, All-State, All-Metro and All-Conference First Teams and was invited to USA National Team U18 Selection camp. A multi-sport athlete, Borz also earned a spot on the 2022 All-Conference team for track and field as a member of the gold medal-winning 4x200 relay. She also competed in squash and lacrosse.

Lindsey Frank comes to Northwestern as a graduate transfer after a four-year career at Richmond where she played field hockey and lacrosse. A midfielder and attacker, Frank scored 50 points on 17 goals and 16 assists during her time with the Spiders. She led the team in goals and assists as a junior and senior, earning a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and the NFHCA All-South Region Second Team in both seasons. As a midfielder on the lacrosse team, Frank led Richmond in goals each of the last three seasons. She recorded 164 goals and 70 assists in lacrosse over four seasons and was named an All-American as a senior. Β She will also be joining Northwestern Lacrosse for their 2024 National Championship defense. Β 

Emilie Kirschner arrives in Evanston from The Hill School, one of the nation's top high school field hockey programs. Rated a top-100 recruit by MAX Field Hockey, Kirschner led Hill to its first-ever state championship in 2022 as well as a No. 2 national ranking. A versatile midfielder and attacker, Kirschner was named a second-team All-American following her senior season while also earning All-Region and All-State First Team recognition. Kirschner won a gold medal at the 2023 U-19 National Club Championships with the WC Eagles. Β 

Ella Kokinis adds another top-100 recruit to Northwestern after four years of varsity field hockey at Garrison Forest School in Maryland. Kokinis led Garrison to a state title as a senior while scoring 22 goals and 13 assists in 18 games. The campaign earned her a third-team All-American recognition as well as spots on the All-State and All-Conference First Teams. She also spent three years on the varsity lacrosse team and appeared with Piper Borz, fellow field hockey first year, on the Freedom HKY club team.

Faye Post signs on to an elite goalkeeping unit as a top-50 recruit nationally out of Lake-Lehman in Pennsylvania. A captain her senior year, Post recorded 11 shutouts and 173 saves on a 98.3% save percentage en route to All-State First Team and All-Region Second Team honors. She tallied 149 saves and six shutouts the year prior. Post also captained the school's track and field team where she was a member of the varsity team all four years, competing in javelin, shot put and discus.

Ilse Tromp joins Northwestern as the latest in an elite line of talent from the Netherlands. Tromp played 12 years on HC Rotterdam as a midfielder and defender, serving two years as the team captain with the Under 18s and making her Hoofdklasse debut with the Ladies First team in October of 2022. She helped lead the team to four Dutch championships (three outdoor and one indoor) and played alongside fellow Wildcat Maja Zivojnovic.
