Coykendall and Scane Named Tewaaraton Award Finalists

EVANSTON, Ill. – Erin Coykendall and Izzy Scane were named Terwaaraton Award Finalists, The Terwaaraton Foundation announced on Thursday. The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.
This marks the third time ever and first since 2008 that Northwestern has had two Terwaaraton Award Finalists. A Wildcat won the award in both of those seasons.
Big Ten Attacker of the Year Izzy Scane earns the finalist recognition after a record-breaking regular season. Scane was a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten recipient with 81 goals and 27 assists, Scane leads the nation in both goals per game (5.13) and points per game (6.8).
Scane was a 2021 Tewaaraton Award finalist when she set an NCAA single-season record averaging 6.12 goals per game.
Coykendall leads the Big Ten with 2.39 assists per game, notching 43 helpers over the course of 18 games, the eighth-most in a single-season in program history. Coykendall's 43 assists sits one shy of her 44 assists in 2021 for seventh in school history.
A Wildcat has won the Terwaaraton Award five times, the second-most awards of any school. A Northwestern student-athlete won the award most recently in 2011 when Shannon Smith received the prestigious award.

No. 1 Northwestern earned the top seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009 and plays its opening NCAA Tournament game at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday, May 14, inside Martin Stadium.
