Northwestern to Host Milwaukee

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern baseball returns to the diamond on Tuesday as they host UW-Milwaukee at Rocky and Berenice Miller Park. First pitch between the 'Cats and the Panthers is set for 3:30 p.m.

Northwestern (6-28) leads the all-time series against Milwaukee (19-17) 24 games to 11 heading into Tuesday's matchup - the first of two between the squads this season. The programs last met last season, when Northwestern swept the home-and-home series.

The Wildcats will attempt to take home their second straight midweek win after defeating NIU last Tuesday. The 16-5 victory over the Huskies came on nine extra-base hits by the Wildcats, which tied their season high. Stephen Hrustich and Alex Calarco accounted for six of the extra-base knocks on their own with a home run and two doubles each.

After the strong offensive output in DeKalb, the 'Cats couldn't match that against Rutgers over the weekend, leading to a three-game sweep by the Scarlet Knights. Despite the losses, the 'Cats got a strong weekend from Tony Livermore, who collected five hits against the Knights, including a double and his first home run of the season. The junior drove in two and scored three, contributing to nearly half of Northwestern's run production over the three-game stretch.

On the pitching side, the bullpen had a strong showing, tossing five innings and limiting the Knights to three runs or less in each of the weekend's three games. Kellen Pate tossed 1.2 scoreless innings on Friday for his third straight scoreless outing, and David Utagawa closed out the series with two scoreless innings in Sunday's finale. Ethan Sund and Grant Comstock also blanked Rutgers for an inning each in Saturday's game.

After Tuesday's game, the 'Cats will hit the road for East Lansing, where they'll take on Michigan State this weekend. First pitch in Friday's series opener against the Spartans is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. CT.
