WASHINGTON, D.C. – Northwestern lacrosse had a nation-leading four student-athletes named Tewaaraton Award Nominees, as Erin Coykendall, Hailey Rhatigan, Izzy Scane and Samantha White earned the recognition on Thursday afternoon.

The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top college lacrosse player in the country.

Coykendall has emerged as one of the most versatile players in the country, posting 39 goals and 39 assists in her senior season. Last weekend at Ohio State she moved into second place in program history, registering her 129th career assist. Her 78 points this season are the fifth-most in the country and second-most in the Big Ten, trailing only Scane.

Rhatigan transferred to Northwestern after playing four seasons at Mercer and is one of the most prolific scorers in the sport's history. She has scored 42 goals in just 11 games this season. Over her career Rhatigan has posted 270 career goals, and with three more goals will rank 10th for career goals in Division I history.

After missing all of last season with an ACL injury, Scane picked up right where she left off from a record setting 2021 campaign. She leads the country this season with 72 goals and 91 points and tied her single-game program record scoring 10 goals against Notre Dame. Scane was a 2021 Tewaaraton Award finalist when she set an NCAA single-season record averaging 6.12 goals per game.

The trio of Coykendall, Rhatigan and Scane lead the nation's highest scoring offense, which averages 18.1 goals per game.

White leads the team with 21 caused turnovers, an improvement of nine caused turnovers from her rookie campaign last season. The Baltimore, Md. native has also posted 20 ground balls and 40 draw controls. She was last season's Big Ten Freshman of the Year.

Five finalists will be announced on May 11.

No. 2 Northwestern hosts No. 12 Maryland in the regular season finale at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 22 inside Martin Stadium. The Wildcats have already won at least a share of their second Big Ten regular season title, and will have the chance to earn an outright title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Conference Tournament.
