'Cats Clinch Big Ten Regular Season Title With Win Over Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio — With a 17-11 win over Ohio State on Saturday night, the Wildcats clinched a share of the Big Ten regular season title. Northwestern has now won 10 regular season conference titles, winning two Big Ten titles in the past three years.
Hailey Rhatigan led the way for the Wildcats (14-1, 5-0 B1G) with a season high six goals, scoring four straight in just three minutes and 36 seconds in the second quarter. Izzy Scane followed with four goals and two assists.

But it was Erin Coykendall who stole the show with her historic performance. In addition to a whopping four goals, she added one assist that solidified her name in the Northwestern record books. She now has 129 career assists, moving her to second all-time in program history.

Northwestern manufactured their win in the draw circle, outpacing Ohio State (5-10, 0-5 B1G) 20 to 11. Samantha Smith led the charge with eight draws and Madison Taylor followed with four draw controls in addition to two goals.
On the other side of the field, Jane Hansen starred for the Wildcats on defense, causing a career high four turnovers and picking up three ground balls. Samantha White and Kendall Halpern followed with two ground balls and a caused turnover each.
The 'Cats remain undefeated in conference play with just one game left to play in the regular season. If Northwestern beats Maryland they will claim the regular season title outright. The Terrapins will visit Evanston on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
