EVANSTON, Ill. — Across two games last week, Madison Taylor scored six goals, pulled down five draw controls, posted four assists, picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers. The stat line was more than enough to earn her eighth Big Ten Player of the Week honor.
Taylor is the only player in recent history to win the weekly honor eight times, breaking Izzy Scane's previous record of seven, which she won in seven straight weeks at the end of the 2019 season.
The first year posted two goals and three assists in Northwestern's 16-6 win over Rutgers before finding four goals and another assist against Albany.
The Wantagh N.Y. native is the only first year to have started every game this season and has notched at least a point in every match. There is only one game this season, Stony Brook, where Taylor failed to find the back of the net. Her 36 goals are tied with Hailey Rhatigan for second on the team and are third in the nation among first years.
Taylor will be back in action this weekend, when the Wildcats face Ohio State on the road. The match up will be televised on ESPNU at 5 p.m. CT.
