Brian Anderson Joins Northwestern Baseball Staff

EVANSTON, Ill. – Former Major League Baseball outfielder Brian Anderson joined the Northwestern baseball staff, head coach Jim Foster announced Tuesday. 
Anderson's college career began at the University of Arizona, where he earned All-American and All-Pac 10 honors. He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the first round of the 2003 MLB Draft after his junior season. His 26-game hit streak stands as Arizona's single-season program record.
He made his first MLB appearance with the White Sox in 2005, appearing in 13 games for the eventual World Champions. In 2008, Anderson played in 109 games en route to an AL Central Division title. He played with the White Sox until 2009 when he was traded to the Red Sox. He made appearances in the ALDS for the White Sox in 2008 and Red Sox in 2009.
 
The Tucson native returned to Arizona as an undergraduate assistant coach in 2021 while finishing his degree. In 2022, he served as first base coach and worked with the team's outfielders. In 2022, Arizona earned an NCAA Regionals berth, advancing to the Coral Gables Regional Final. Following his stint at Arizona, Anderson was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Pima Community College.
