‘Cats Pick Up Five Top-25 Finishes At December NAC

Chen, Damratoski place inside top 15 in their respective events
RICHMOND, Va. (December 5, 2023) – Northwestern fencing posted five top-25 finishes as the Wildcats wrapped up competition for calendar year 2023 at USA Fencing's December North American Cup (NAC) event this past weekend in Richmond, Va.
Leading the way for the 'Cats was the pairing of Alex Chen and Anna Damratoski, both of whom notched top-15 finishes.
After going 5-1 in pool action in the Junior Women's Sabre, Chen rattled off three wins in the tableau, a run punctuated by a 15-7 victory over Yining Wang in the Round of 32, en route to placing 10th overall. Competing in the Junior Women's Epee, Damratoski put up a 4-1 mark in pool bouts before, like Chen, scoring three tableau wins of her own to secure a 13th-place finish.
The pairing of Megumi Oishi and Karen Wang posted 17th-place efforts in the Division I sections of their respective events, both finishing a perfect 6-0 in pool play ahead of each notching a head-to-head victory in the tableau. Wang also saw action alongside Damratoski in the Junior Women's Epee, where she took 22nd.
