DePaul Defeats Northwestern 90-65

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Northwestern women's basketball fell 90-65 to the DePaul Blue Demons on the road Wednesday.

The Wildcats (3-7) had four players score in double figures, led by Melannie Daley, who had 13 points. Casey Harter added 13 points, six rebounds and five assists and Paige Mott chipped in as well with 11 points.

Northwestern utilized great ball movement in Wednesday's game, piling up 15 assists on 26 made field goals. Harter's five assists were the most for the Wildcats.

How It Happened

Northwestern struggled out of the gate, falling behind 20-10 at the end of the first quarter.

The Wildcats continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 47-19 halftime deficit.

DePaul continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 63-32 advantage before Northwestern went on a 7-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Daley, to trim its deficit to 63-39 with 3:38 to go in the third. DePaul countered and stretched its lead to 72-47 heading into the fourth. Northwestern played well near the basket, scoring 18 of its 28 points in the paint.

DePaul kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing an 83-54 advantage before Northwestern went on a 9-0 run, finished off by Alana Goodchild's three, to shrink the deficit to 83-63 with 2:13 to go in the contest. DePaul responded and outscored the Wildcats the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 90-65. Northwestern got a boost from its bench in the period, with non-starters scoring 10 of its 18 total points.

Game Notes

» Melannie Daley and Casey Harter led the Wildcats with 13 points apiece.
