EVANSTON, Ill. (December 12, 2023) – Four members of the Northwestern University volleyball team have been named Academic All-District selections by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced on Tuesday. The Wildcats' four honorees are tied for the most of any Big Ten Conference institution.

Maddy Chinn (Oakland Township, Mich./Notre Dame Prep/Purdue), Alexa Rousseau (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Bloomfield Hills), Ellee Stinson (Yorktown, Ind./Yorktown), and Kennedy Hill (Sherman Oaks, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) were honored for their work both on the court and in the classroom.

Chinn impressed in her lone season at Northwestern as a graduate student, seeing action in all 30 matches while averaging 1.83 kills per set. The 6-foot-3 outside hitter reached double figures in the category five times, highlighted by a career-best 18-kill effort against local foe UIC on September 13.

A Communication Studies major, Rousseau started in all 113 sets for the 'Cats in 2023, putting up 9.39 assist per set, a mark that ranked sixth in the Big Ten Conference. Currently sixth in Wildcat annals with 3,315 career helpers to her name, Rousseau dished out a season-high 53 assists on October 29 as part of a thrilling five-set win over Indiana.

Majoring in Learning & Organizational Change, Stinson put together a terrific junior campaign, piling up 498 digs, the 10th most in a single season in program history. The Yorktown, Ind. product ranked second in the Big Ten in the category, averaging 4.41 digs per set across 30 matches, and posted 20-plus digs on eight separate occasions.

Hill, who is currently undeclared in her field of study, developed into a fixture in the middle for the 'Cats in 2023, staring in 17 of Northwestern's last 18 matches to close the year. A 6-foot-1 middle blocker, Hill, who finished the year averaging 1.13 blocks per set, enjoyed a career outing in the Wildcats' aforementioned win over Indiana, piling up 12 kills and 11 blocks.

In order to be considered for CSC Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete had to be of at least sophomore status with a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and played in 75 percent of the team's matches.
