EVANSTON, Ill. - No. 1 Northwestern field hockey will return to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth straight year, this time as the two-seed, the NCAA announced in Sunday night's Selection Show. Lakeside Field will be host to four games in the upcoming week, beginning Wednesday with the opening round and culminating in the quarterfinal on Sunday afternoon. The 'Cats begin tournament play themselves on Friday at noon CT.
The Wildcats enter NCAA action on an historic 18-game win streak after sweeping both the regular season and Big Ten Tournament titles over the past two weeks. Northwestern finished with an unblemished 8-0 conference mark to capture their seventh regular-season title and their first since 1994, then took down No. 11 Ohio State and No. 8 Maryland en route to their second-ever conference tournament title. It's the first time in program history that Northwestern has won both titles in the same season.
Friday's game will put the Wildcats up against the winner of Wednesday's opening-round matchup between California or Miami (OH). The 'Cats last faced both teams in 2022 and came away with wins against both. Then-No. 21 Miami (OH) fell to the 'Cats 6-2 at Lakeside Field on Aug. 29 and Northwestern beat California 5-1 on the road on Sept. 19.

In addition to Northwestern's own game Friday, No. 7 Iowa and No. 10 Louisville will play at 2:30 p.m. CT at Lakeside Field for a place in the quarterfinal.

Sunday's quarterfinal will begin at 1 p.m. CT. All four games at Lakeside Field will be broadcast on B1G+.
