CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Northwestern junior Ava Earl wrapped up a stand-out cross country season on Saturday at the NCAA Championships in Charlottesville, Va.

Competing in the women's 6k, Earl finished 64th - the second-best Championship placement in Northwestern program history. She crossed the line at 20:24.9, just 22 seconds away from the top-40 and All-American honors. The time was a personal-best for the junior and beat her previous 6k record by 14 seconds. She finished fourth among Big Ten runners competing in the race.

Earl earned automatic qualification to the Championship meet after finishing eighth at the Midwest Regional on Nov. 10 in Stillwater, Okla. This year's Championship race was her second straight after Northwestern's team qualification in 2022.

With cross country season behind them, Jill Miller's squad will turn their attention towards the winter indoor track season.
