Wildcat Men Finish Day One in First Place at Purdue Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern swimming and diving capped day one at the 2023 Purdue Invitational, with the men leading the field and the women in second place. 

Ayla Spitz picked up where she left off a few weeks ago, placing first in the women's 500 free with a time of 4:40.25.

In the men's 500 free, Andrew Martin earned first place, posting a time of 4:19.59.

Northwestern dominated the men's 200 IM, sweeping the event's top six spots, led by Diego Nosack, who clocked in at 1:45.76 to win the event.

The 'Cats put together a strong showing in the women's 50 free, with Lindsay Ervin (22.62) and Audrey Yu (22.77) taking the top two spots.

The Wildcat women closed out day one with a dominant performance in the 400 free relay. The team of Spitz, Maggie Papanicholas, May Peterson, and Ervin placed first with a time of 3:36.62.
