EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern University head lacrosse coach Kelly Amonte Hiller announced the addition of graduate transfer attacker Mary Schumar to the roster ahead of the 2024 season. Schumar comes to Northwestern from Marquette, where she leaves the program as its career leader in assists (115) while ranking fifth in points (169).

"Mary is a tireless worker and tremendous playmaker," said Amonte Hiller. "She makes connections on and off the field with ease, and last season led Marquette to its best season program history. We are thrilled to welcome her to The Lake Show."

An All-BIG EAST First Team Selection and honorable mention All-American USA Lacrosse Magazine and Inside Lacrosse in 2023, Schumar led the nation by posting 69 assists for a Golden Eagles squad that qualified for the NCAA Tournament, went 15-4 and earned a No. 23 final ranking in the IWLCA Coaches Poll. The East Grand Rapids, Mich. native led the BIG EAST with 89 points (20G-69A) and posted career single-game highs of nine assists and 11 points against Butler.

For her career, Schumar is a two-time All-BIG EAST First Team Selection and BIG EAST All-Academic recipient. Over four seasons, Schumar has appeared in 57 games, posting 169 points, 54 goals, 115 assists, 60 ground balls and 35 caused turnovers.
