Nguyen Tabbed Big Ten Women’s Golfer Of The Week

Junior takes home weekly honor for second time this season
EVANSTON, Ill. (October 26, 2023) – Coming off her third top-10 finish of the fall season, Northwestern University junior Lauryn Nguyen (Seattle, Wash./West Seattle) has been named the Big Ten Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Thursday. Now a three-time honoree for her career, this marks Nguyen's second weekly accolade of the 2023-24 campaign.
Nguyen was terrific during the Wildcats' stay in Northern California over the weekend. The Seattle, Wash. native earned a share of fifth place as she posted a four-under-par 209 (70-66-73), a 54-hole effort highlighted by a season-low tying five-under-par 66 in the event's second round. Led by her efforts, Northwestern surged to a runner-up finish at the event, finishing in front of seven teams ranked above it in the latest Golfweek Women's Team Rankings, a group that included No. 1 Stanford.
Across 12 rounds of play this fall, Nguyen has shot par or better in eight rounds, tallying four rounds in the 60s. Following this past weekend's shwoing, she has a pair of top-five finishes to her name in 2023-24 after previously claiming individual medalist honors at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, October 2-3, in Golf, Ill.
With its fall slate now complete, Northwestern returns to action in 2024, traveling to West Palm Beach, Fla. over Martin Luther King Day weekend before returning to The Sunshine State for the UCF Challenge, February 4-6, in Orlando, Fla.
