The Kabiller NU for Life Program began in 2012 following a generous donation to Northwestern Athletics by David Kabiller '85, a member of the University's Board of Trustees and a former Wildcat tennis player. In 2019, Kabiller committed a multimillion-dollar gift to endow the program, securing support for generations of future Wildcats student-athletes. The award, named in honor of David's late father, is now in its eleventh class of recipients. Student-athletes are required to submit an application that details their intended use for the funds, as well as an interview with a committee of the athletic department and campus representatives.
