Northwestern Travels to Cincinnati and Miami (Ohio) for Season-Opening Weekend

EVANSTON, Ill. – The 2023-2024 Northwestern Swimming and Diving season is set to kick off this Friday as the Wildcats travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, to face off against Cincinnati before making their way to Oxford, Ohio to compete against Miami (Ohio)
Northwestern swimming and diving welcomes 22 newcomers, with 11 on the men's side. (Ryan Augustine, Aaron Baltayis, Adam Cohen, Cade Duncan, David Gerchlik, Christopher Leung, Andrew Martin, Diego Nosack, Connor Schuster, Stuart Seymour, and David Vinokur) and 11 on the women's side (Maggie Belbot, Claudia Chang, Lydia Georgopoulou, Audrey J-Cheng, Leah O'Connell, Amy Pan, Maggie Papanicholas, May Peterson, Chloe Sharpe, Sydney Smith, Ayla Spitz,).
Friday's meet will also mark the debut for three new members of the coaching staff, Director of Swimming and Diving Rachel Stratton-Mills, along with assistant coaches Margaret Howe and Jacob Siar.
Cincinnati Preview
The Bearcats will also open their season on Friday. The Bearcats return a solid lineup that includes Joleigh Crye, a 2023 NCAA Championship qualifier and 2023 Co-American Athletic Conference Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Year.
Miami (Ohio) Preview
Saturday's dual meet will mark the third of the season for the RedHawks. Both the men's and women's sides picked up a win over Cleveland State, before splitting a meet at Oakland, with the RedHawk men falling to the Golden Grizzlies and the RedHawk women picking up a win. Miami will return senior Nicole Maier, who secured ninth place in the 400 IM, setting a new school and conference record time of 4:05.84 and earning All-American Honorable Mention recognition.
