EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will take a break from Big Ten play to close out the non-conference portion of their schedule tonight as they face off with Chicago State. Tip-off between the 'Cats and the Cougars is set for 7:00 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

The Wildcats (6-13, 0-9) were originally scheduled to play Chicago State (1-20) on December 22, but the game was postponed due to inclement weather. Since then, the 'Cats have faced a relentless conference schedule, facing five ranked opponents in eight Big Ten matchups. The Cougars have gone 1-4 since the originally scheduled game, picking up their first win of the season last Tuesday against Olivet College.

Their last time out, the 'Cats dropped a close game 67-64 to No. 21 Illinois on Sunday. Northwestern had four players in double-digits in the contest, including Paige Mott, who had 13. It was Mott's second straight game in double figures and her second straight as the 'Cats' leading scorer after she logged a career-high 16-point performance at Ohio State. She leads all Wildcats in field goal percentage, at 53.5, and is averaging 6.9 points per game, which is nearly double her previous single-season career high.

Also making contributions was Caroline Lau, who had six points and a career-high five assists against the Illini on Sunday. Lau played 27 minutes in that contest, which was a career high for her and ranked third on the team Mott and Sydney Wood. The first-year is just one game removed from a 13-point performance at Ohio State and has been seeing increased game action as the 'Cats work through their conference schedule.

After tonight's game, the 'Cats will hit the road for a pair at Wisconsin and Penn State. The matchup in Madison is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
