Northwestern took an early lead on Thursday, scoring just thirty-nine seconds into the match when Ella Hase tapped in a goal from short-range. Holland Carey and Meg Boade assisted on the score, which was the second-fastest goal from kickoff in program history. Just three minutes later, Meg Boade fired a shot from outside the 18-yard box to double the lead. NU tacked on again in the 15th minute when a Josie Aulicino corner kick found Emma Phillips, who headed the ball past the keeper for a 3-0 advantage. The game remained scoreless until the 77th minute when Josie Aulicino fired a shot into the corner of the net to give the 'Cats a 4-0 edge that stood for the remainder of the contest. Northwestern's four goals on Thursday matched a program record for goals in a season opener.
