'Cats Face Minnesota with Postseason Hopes on the Line

Evanston, IL - Northwestern Baseball begins their final series of the season this weekend when the Wildcats head to Minnesota to take on the Golden Gophers in a weekend set beginning on Thursday night at 6:30pm CT. The teams will also face each other on Friday evening at 6:30pm CT and Saturday afternoon at 2pm CT.
Northwestern needs to win the series in order to keep their postseason hopes alive, while getting some help around the conference as a handful of teams battle for position in a crowded race for the Big Ten Tournament.
One reason for optimism is the recent performance of Michael Farinelli, who turned in one of the most impressive starts of his college career on Saturday as the Wildcats defeated Purdue 11-1. The graduate transfer from Middlebury struck out seven and allowed just one run in the first nine-inning complete game of his Northwestern career.
Ethan O'Donnell also made history in the series against Purdue, as the sophomore broke the Northwestern single-season record with his 23rd double of the season. O'Donnell leads the conference with 24 doubles in 2022.
