Girardi and White Claim Big Ten Weekly Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – For the second straight week, multiple Northwestern lacrosse student-athletes garnered weekly award recognition from the Big Ten Conference. Jill Girardi claimed Midfielder of the Week honors and Samantha White grabbed Freshman of the Week recognition, the league office announced on Tuesday (April 5).
Girardi tied career-highs by scoring five goals and tallying 13 draw controls in a 17-6 road conference win at Penn State. The Wildcats won their 16th straight league win, with Girardi contributing six points (5g, 1a). To cap the week, she scored a team-high four goals in a 17-9 victory at Penn. She won the award for the third time in the last five weeks.
White was instrumental defensively in both wins last week. She tallied two ground balls and one draw control at Penn State and helped hold the Nittany Lions to their lowest goal total (6) since 2020 and its lowest in a conference game since 2019. Against Penn, White tied her career-high of three ground balls and two caused turnovers. She won the award for the second straight week.
No. 3 Northwestern is back in action later this week as it hosts No. 15 Rutgers on BTN at 7:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, April 7 at Ryan Fieldhouse.
