Champaign, IL - Northwestern dropped the second game of their weekend series against Illinois on Saturday, falling 11-6 to the Illini.
Anthony Calarco got the scoring started for Northwestern with his 33rd RBI of the 2022 season, ripping a single up the middle to score Andrew Pinkston. Calarco leads the Wildcats in RBIs and home runs.
Later in the game, Stephen Hrustich would chip into the lead with a solo shot to left field - his sixth home run of the season - before an RBI single from Ethan O'Donnell kept the Wildcats within striking distance of Illinois.
Patrick Herrera added a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Despite both teams collectiing 14 hits on Saturday, Northwestern couldn't keep pace with the Illini.
Michael Farinelli struck out four across 5.1 innings of work in his eighth start of the season.
Northwestern will close out the series with Illinois at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
