Champaign, IL - Northwestern came up short against Illinois, losing 3-0 in the final game of their weekend series.
Sophomore second basemen Vincent Bianchina hit .385 over the weekend and ripped a double into right field in the eighth inning - his five hits led Northwestern against the Illini.
Jack Sauser and Kellen Pate didn't allow a hit in 4 innings of scoreless relief work for the Wildcats, part a strong day for Northwestern on the mound. Sauser and Pate retired 10 Illinois batters in a row and 12 of the 13 hitters they faced on the afternoon.
Northwestern baseball will return to action on Tuesday at 3:00 PM CT against Saint Louis, as the Wildcats return to Evanston for their next five matchups.
