Northwestern is ranked No. 37 in the country with a 9-5 record and a 4-0 start to Big Ten play. Nebraska is ranked No. 53 and is 10-6 overall and 3-1 in conference while the Hakweyes are 4-11 and 0-4 in conference.
The Wildcats have protected their home courts with two perfect homestands in a row the last two weekends. Two weeks ago they secured a pair of top-60 wins against Wisconsin and Minnesota and last week they dispatched Rutgers and Maryland with a pair of 7-0 sweeps.
The Huskers have top-75 wins in the Big Ten against Purdue and Penn State, and a loss to No. 4 Ohio State. Nebraska's best wins are against top-50 teams in Minnesota and Memphis, and they fell short at home to No. 39 Kansas and No. 41 Texas Tech.
Iowa is coming off an 0-2 road trip to the Hoosier State last weekend, falling 4-3 against Indiana and 4-1 against No. 65 Purdue.
Northwestern has won the last seven matchups against the Huskers, including the last two in Lincoln in 2021 and 2017. Last season the 'Cats won 4-3 on the road and 4-2 at home. Maria Shusharina, Clarissa Hand, Briana Crowley and Christina Hand all won the first time around while Cl. Hand and Hannah McColgan claimed wins in Evanston.
The Wildcats are 46-2 all-time against the Hawkeyes and are undefeated in head coach Claire Pollard's tenure. The 'Cats won 6-1 last year in Iowa City and 4-3 in Evanston.
Two wins this weekend would give Northwestern a 6-0 start in the Big Ten, its best start in conference play since 2018, when the 'Cats ran the table at 11-0 en route to a Big Ten championship. The 'Cats started 5-0 in their last two B1G campaigns in 2021 and 2019.
