'Cats Fall to Wolfpack 4-2 on the Road

RALEIGH, N.C.Β β Northwestern fell 4-2 to NC State on Monday afternoon at the outdoor courts at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center in Raleigh.
The 'Cats fell to 11-5 on the season while the Wolfpack improved to 11-5.Β
Northwestern started with a strong doubles effort, winning at No. 3 and No. 2. Trice Pickens and Natan Spear coasted to a 6-0 win and Simen Bratholm and Brian BerduscoΒ knocked off theΒ No. 15 duo in the country. Felix Nordby and Steven Forman finished their set at 5-5 when the point was clinched for the 'Cats against the No. 25 duo in the country.Β
Steven Forman picked up the only singles win for the 'Cats at No. 1, defeating Rafa Izquierdo Luque, 6-2, 6-3.Β
Trice Pickens battled back to claim a second set when the 'Cats were down 3-1, and Felix NordbyΒ fought to a second set tiebreak, but he could not force a third set.Β
The 'Cats begin Big Ten play this weekend with a road swing at Penn State on Friday and No. 2 Ohio State on Sunday.
