Three Wildcats Tabbed to Tewaaraton Award Watch List

EVANSTON, Ill. – Three Northwestern lacrosse student-athletes, Madison Doucette, Lauren Gilbert and Jill Girardi, have been named to the 2022 Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
Doucette went 15-1 in net last season and registered 113 saves. The West Chester, Pa. product posted an 11.06 goals against average, which led the Big Ten.
Gilbert earned first team All-American (IWCLA) and All-Big Ten accolades a season ago and ranked second in the conference and 11th nationally averaging 4.12 goals per game. Her 4.69 points per game also placed second in the league and 26th nationally. Ahead of this season, Gilbert earned Big Ten Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year recognition from Inside Lacrosse.
Girardi ranked fifth in the Big Ten last season averaging 4.31 draw controls per game. The midfielder totaled 69 draw controls in 16 games last season and registered a season-high 12 against Denver (May 16) in the NCAA Tournament.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
The No. 4 Wildcats were voted the unanimous favorite to win the Big Ten by the league's coaches and opens their season at No. 1 Boston College at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 12.
