Northwestern Women Finish Second, Men Third at Purdue Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Ben Miller swam a personal best to win the men's 200-butterfly in a time of 1:43.88 as Northwestern men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished third and second, respectively, at the Purdue Invitational.
While Miller was the only winner on the day, the Wildcats had seven other top-three finishes on the night.
All-American Lola Mull ensured Northwestern started the final session on a high note with a second-place finish in the women's 1650-yard freestyle. Ryan King followed up Mull's performance, grabbing third in the men's event.
Tyler Lu continued his impressive form with a second-place finish in the men's 200-yard backstroke, his third top-three finish of the meet.
Hannah Brunzell followed up her third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a similar result in the 200 event, and Miriam Guevara and Hana Shimizu-Bowers ended the Wildcats' individual event account on a high note with a 2-3 finish in the women's 200-yard butterfly.
Northwestern also secured runner-up spot in the men's platform diving (Henry Schirmer) and third place in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay (Lindsay Ervin, Ally Larson, Audrey Yu and Riley Huddleston).
The Wildcats start the second half of their season in two weeks when they head to Greensboro, North Carolina, to compete in the 2022 U.S. Open.
