EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern is set to kick off their home schedule on Sunday afternoon as they take on Penn, with tip-off between the two teams scheduled for 12 p.m.

After falling to #20 Oregon in their regular season opener, the Wildcats will look to collect their first win of the 2022-23 campaign against a 1-0 Penn squad. The contest will be the teams' first meeting since November 28, 2009, when the 'Cats defeated the Quakers 61-39. Northwestern enters the weekend having won 13 straight home openers, dating back to 2009.

Sunday's game will be the first home matchup for Head Coach Joe McKeown's first-year class, which includes forwards Alana Goodchild and Lauren Trumpy and guard Caroline Lau. Both Lau and Goodchild saw their first collegiate action in Oregon, and Lau concluded her 17 minutes of play with four assists, which tied for the team lead.

In most other statistical categories, the Wildcats were led by sophomore Caileigh Walsh. She put up 15 points and grabbed six rebounds against the Ducks while also notching two blocked shots. The numbers were not out of the ordinary for Walsh, who reached double figures in ten of her 28 games last season and finished second in the Big Ten in blocks per game, with 1.43.

Also in on the action was senior Kaylah Rainey, who made her first career start on Monday. She played a career-high 23 minutes and scored seven points, just one shy of her career mark. Courtney Shaw also made an impact, kicking off her fifth season as a Wildcat with a career-high four assists, and fellow grad student Sydney Wood scored five points in her first game action in nearly a year.

Sunday's game kicks off a stretch of five-straight home games for the Wildcats as they continue their challenging non-conference slate. The home stand is headlined by a matchup with #9 Notre Dame, which will take place at Welsh-Ryan Arena on Wednesday at 8 pm.
