Volleyball Sweeps Iowa to Win Fourth Straight

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern volleyball team won its fourth match in a row by sweeping Iowa 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-21), at Welsh-Ryan Arena on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats are on their first four-match win-streak in conference play since 2011.
The conference victory improved Northwestern's record to 17-7 overall and 6-6 in Big Ten play, while the Hawkeyes fell to 7-16 (1-11 B1G).
As a team, NU hit .365, its second-highest mark in conference action after hitting .402 earlier this season against Rutgers.

The Wildcats attack was paced by Temi Thomas-Ailara, who finished with 19 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .311, and by Hanna Lesiak, who had 12 while hitting .391. Megan Miller posted a match-high 18 digs, while Ellee Stinson collected 10. First-year setter Sienna Noordermeer dished out 41 assists, and has recorded 40+ helpers in three of her last four matches.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Wildcats came out on top of a close first set, winning 26-24 in a stanza that was tied two times and had one lead change.
SET 2 | Northwestern took set two 25-23 to swiftly jump to a 2-0 lead. The Wildcats grabbed the set thanks to a solid showing on the attacking end. Northwestern put together a .529 attack percentage with 20 kills in the set win. After the lead changed hands five times, the Wildcats took control for good at 24-23 and rode that advantage to victory.
SET 3 | Northwestern then ended the match with a victory in set number three. The Wildcats grabbed control of the set early when the score was 6-5 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-21. Northwestern led by six points at 20-14 before finishing off the stanza, totaling 17 kills along the way. Northwestern's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Iowa attacks in the stanza.
The Wildcats' homestand continues next week at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 4 against Ohio State.
