WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Northwestern put together a complete performance in a 4-0 win over William and Mary on Sunday on the road.

The Wildcats earned their first win of the 2021 fall season and improved to 1-2, three games through their season-opening four game road swing.

Sophomore midfielder Josie Aulicino, sophomore forward Meg Boade and junior forward Aurea Martin all landed on the scoresheet with a goal. The other Wildcat goal was an own goal redirected in off of a cross from Lily Gilbertson. Aulicino put together one of the best performances of her career with a goal and two assists coming on Boade and Martin's goal.

Aulicino's goal was her first of the season and second of her career, coming in the 36th minute on an assist from Marianna Annest. She received the ball just outside the box, unseated her defender, and lashed a ball over the Tribe goalkeeper to make it 1-0. The 'Cats went into the half with a 1-0 lead, fully on top of proceedings with a 7-0 shot advantage.

The second goal came in the 56th minute on a dangerous cross from Gilbertson that deflected in at the back post. Boade and Martin both scored in the 79th minute, with their goals coming just 32 seconds apart in gametime. It was the fifth fastest pair of consecutive goals in program history and only the tenth pair ever scored with less than a minute betweeen them. It was fastest pair since 2005. Boade scored her first career goal while Martin scored the second of her season and sixth of her career.

The Wildcats posted their first shutout of the season, led by center back duo Emma Phillips and Danika Austin, who both played the full 90 minutes. Olivia Stone and Ella Hase started at outside back while Julietta Thron and Nicole Doucette filled in.

Senior goalkeeper Mackenzie Wood contributed two saves on her clean sheet, good for the 18th of her career.

First year Kelsey Kwon also made her collegiate debut, playing 21 minutes.

The Wildcats are back in action on Thursday with a matchup at No. 2 North Carolina, set for 6 p.m. CT
